Surfing and water sports
The Crozon peninsula is one of Brittany’s top destinations for surfers and water sports enthusiasts. Thanks to its many Atlantic-facing beaches, it offers several renowned surf spots, suitable for beginners and experienced surfers alike. From the Hôtel de la Baie, you’re ideally situated to reach these spots quickly and enjoy the ocean to the full.
There are several surf schools nearby, including one just a few steps from the hotel. They offer lessons, courses and equipment rental, so you can discover the pleasures of surfing in complete safety.
The port of Morgat, just a few minutes’ walk away, is also the starting point for numerous water sports activities. Sailing, kite-surfing, paddleboarding and kayaking are all available at the various water sports centers on the harbor.

The port of Morgat
The port of Morgat, located on the Crozon peninsula in Finistère (29), has all the makings of a Breton gem. Once a sardine-fishing village , Morgat is now a charming seaside resort, where the laughter of vacationers has replaced the cries of sailors.

The most beautiful beaches around Morgat
L’île Vierge beach : one of Brittany’s most beautiful beaches, l’île Vierge is a real gem on the Crozon peninsula. Nestling at the foot of high cliffs, this turquoise cove is a protected area, preserved in all its wild beauty. It can’t be reached directly by land, but the view from the GR34 coastal path is breathtaking. For the more adventurous, the beach can be explored from the sea, by kayak, paddle or boat.
Morgat beach: this is the family beach par excellence. Its fine sand, calm waters and lively atmosphere make it ideal for young and old alike. There’s a children’s beach club, games, nearby shops and disabled access. For water sports enthusiasts, kayak, paddle and other equipment rentals are available on site.
L’anse de Dinan: a real hidden treasure, this site features several beaches and a dune zone, nestled in a calm, natural and unspoilt setting. Perfect for a leisurely swim, a long walk or a beginner’s surf session.
Aber beach: at low tide, the more adventurous can walk to the ruined fort on the nearby islet. A fascinating excursion, but one to be undertaken with caution: keep an eye on the tide times to avoid getting stranded! The area is also a haven for seabirds, a true paradise for nature lovers and photographers.
The Trez-Bellec beach in Telgruc-sur-Mer (25 minutes from the Hôtel de la Baie) is a vast stretch of fine sand bordered by dunes, ideal for family bathing. It is home to a nautical center offering paddle, kayak and sand yachting, and offers direct access to the GR34 coastal path. Quiet and unspoilt, it offers a panoramic view over the Bay of Douarnenez.

Just a stone’s throw from the Hôtel de la Baie is access to the Sentiers des Douaniers de Crozon, a must-do itinerary forming part of the GR34 that runs along almost the entire coast of Brittany. With a positive and negative altitude difference of 2,700 meters, this 116 km route offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic and Brittany’s steep cliffs.
As a general rule, the tour of the peninsula takes 3 to 6 days and passes through Morgat and its sandy beach. Take advantage of this stopover to relax in one of our rooms, suitable for all budgets.
The GR34 can be walked all year round, but some stretches can be wet and muddy: make sure you have suitable walking shoes!
Heritage and culture: Camaret-sur-Mer
Camaret, at the western end of the Crozon peninsula (15 minutes from the Hôtel de la Baie), is much more than a picturesque port: it’s a vibrant place of culture and history.
- Quartier Saint-Thomas: a haven for artists. Nestled near the port, the Saint-Thomas district has been transformed into a veritable artists’ village. Between June 15 and September 15, some twenty studios and galleries open their doors to visitors. Painters, sculptors, ceramists and photographers exhibit their work.
- The Vauban Tower: a UNESCO World Heritage site, this defensive tower, built in the late 17th century by the famous military engineer Vauban, still watches over the harbour entrance. It tells the story of several centuries of maritime strategy and Breton history.
- Le manoir de Saint-Pol-Roux: overlooking the sea from the pointe de Pen-hir, this ruined manor house was the home of the poet Saint-Pol-Roux, a leading figure in French literature in the early 20th century.
- Megalithic alignments: close to the manor house, the Lagatjar alignments are a reminder that these lands have been inhabited for millennia. Several menhirs are still standing, vestiges of a fascinating prehistoric past.
